At Helen Newberry Joy Hospital, our Cardio-Pulmonary Department is dedicated to providing comprehensive respiratory therapy and treatment for patients of all ages, from infants to the elderly, who suffer from heart or lung conditions such as heart disease, COPD, asthma, chronic bronchitis, emphysema, or cystic fibrosis.
About Cardiopulmonary Diseases
Cardiopulmonary diseases affect the normal functions of the heart and lungs. Our team of registered respiratory therapists collaborates with other medical specialists and cardiopulmonary rehabilitation experts to ensure that each patient receives the best possible care and treatment.
Pulmonary Rehabilitation
For patients requiring ongoing care, Helen Newberry Joy Hospital offers Pulmonary Rehabilitation with a referral from a physician. Together with your Pulmonary Rehab team, you will set personalized goals based on your specific condition and the activities that are most important to you.
Services Offered
Our department provides a range of services to diagnose, treat, and manage cardiopulmonary conditions. For more information about each service, click on the titles below:
Pulmonary Function Testing (PFT)
Detailed testing to assess lung function and help diagnose respiratory conditions.
Pulmonary Rehabilitation
A comprehensive program designed to improve the quality of life for patients with chronic respiratory diseases.
Electrocardiogram (EKG or ECG)
A test performed at the hospital to check for problems with the electrical activity of your heart. The test translates the heart’s electrical activity into line tracings on paper, with the spikes and dips representing different aspects of the heart’s function.
Holter Monitoring
Similar to an Electrocardiogram, Holter Monitoring involves a continuous recording of a patient’s EKG for 24-48 hours. This allows the physician to correlate symptoms such as dizziness, palpitations, or blackouts with heart activity during regular daily activities.
