Healthcare Financial Assistance

HNJH offers assistance for uninsured or underinsured patients who may have difficulty paying their healthcare bills. We provide limited discounted services to eligible individuals for services performed at Helen Newberry Joy Hospital & Healthcare Center by its healthcare staff, including inpatient and outpatient services, and professional services by staff physicians, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants.



Please Note

Assistance does not cover services provided by non-employed physicians, visiting physicians in the Specialty Clinic, optical services through Northern Lights Vision Center, pulmonary function testing (PFTs), radiologists’ reading of diagnostic imaging exams (e.g., x-rays, mammograms, MRIs), elective procedures, Wellness Center memberships, certain medical equipment or supplies, or services provided through LMAS Health Department, Tribal Center, or other eligible institutions.

Income Verification: Provide Proof of Household Income: Including your most recent income tax return and the last 30 days of check stubs.
Submit Application: Return the completed application and income proof to the HNJH Patient Accounts Office by mail, by email at ptaccounts@hnjh.org, or in person at 502 W. Harrie Street, Newberry, MI 49868.
Medicaid/Medicare Requirement: Applicants may need to apply for Medicaid/Medicare and provide a rejection letter if applicable.
