Celebrating a Summer of Community at Helen Newberry Joy

Sep 10, 2025

This summer has been a season full of connection, celebration, and community here at Helen Newberry Joy Hospital and Healthcare Center. From resource fairs to open houses, golf outings, and fitness events, we’ve been honored to bring people together for causes that matter. Here’s a look back at the highlights of our summer events.

Women’s Resource Fair – May 10, Curtis, MI

Our very first Women’s Resource Fair kicked off the summer with energy and inspiration. Nearly 30 vendors came together to provide resources ranging from traditional healthcare to holistic wellness and lifestyle services. Attendees also enjoyed live music and a fun shopping experience, creating a truly well-rounded day focused on self-care. The response was overwhelming, and we’re excited to continue this as an annual tradition. Be sure to mark your calendars for next year’s fair on May 16, 2026!

Veterans Resource Fair – June 4, Newberry, MI

We were proud to honor and support our veterans at the Veterans Resource Fair, held in partnership with Together with Veterans Upper Peninsula and the Michigan Center for Rural Health. The event offered a wide range of resources,  from employment and education opportunities to housing, healthcare, dental services, family programs, and even free haircuts. It was a day dedicated to giving back to those who have given so much, and we are grateful to everyone who made it possible.

Gibson Family Health Clinic Open House – July 10, Newberry, MI

July brought a very special milestone with the completion of renovations at the Gibson Family Health Clinic. Community ambassadors helped us cut the ribbon on the new space, and guests enjoyed guided tours from our dedicated staff. This renovation, which began in October 2024, represents our continued commitment to expanding and enhancing healthcare for the Newberry community.

Helen Newberry Joy Hospital Foundation 15th Annual Golf Outing – July 18, Newberry, MI

The 15th Annual Golf Outing at Newberry Country Club brought together 34 teams for a day of fun, competition, and giving back. Players enjoyed friendly challenges, great company, and beautiful weather while raising funds for the Health Careers Scholarship Program. Thanks to the incredible support of our sponsors, participants, and community members, this year’s outing raised a record amount for the scholarship fund. We’re excited to continue this tradition next summer on July 17, 2026.

Run for Joy 5K and Walk – August 23, Engadine, MI

We closed out the summer with the annual Run for Joy 5K and Walk, supporting athletics programs at Tahquamenon Area Schools and Engadine Consolidated Schools. Runners and walkers of all ages came together to enjoy a fun, active day while giving back to local students. It was the perfect way to end a season full of community spirit.

Looking Ahead

This summer has been a true reflection of HNJH’s mission, bringing people together to support health, wellness, and community. We’re grateful for the partnerships, volunteers, and community members who made each event a success, and we’re already looking forward to building on this momentum in the year ahead.
